Algernon Sydney Field Established His Solicitors Including Rights Of Way Practice In 1834, At 42 Warwick Street. Soon After, Mr William Overell Took Offices At Number 33 In The Building Opposite. Both Were Succeeded, As They Qualified, By Their Sons And Successive Generations Of Their Families And More Recently By The Existing Partners Of The Two Firms.
For Over A Century And A Half The Two Firms Administered To The Legal Needs Of Succeeding Generations Of Local Families And Their Businesses And Enjoyed A Friendly Rivalry.

Following The Legal Aid Sentencing And Punishment Of Offenders Act 2012, Legal Aid Is Now Only Available For Domestic Abuse Sufferers For Divorce And Other Family Proceedings, And For Private Law Proceedings To Protect Children From Child Abuse, Provided There Is Evidence Of The Abuse. There Is No Change To The Availability Of Legal Aid For Injunction Proceedings Or Forced Marriage Protection Order. There Is No Change In The Information Required For The Application For Legal Aid And No Need To Provide Evidence Of The Abuse.
For Other Private Family Law Proceedings, Apart From Child Abduction, An Application For Legal Aid Must Include Evidence Of Domestic Violence Or In The Case Of Proceedings To Protect A Child, Of Child Abuse.
