I made a request with a cheque for copies of three late 19th C wills filling in appropriate forms correctly. These were returned to me from your Newcastle branch because my cheque was dated a single day after the application was received. I duly sent a fresh cheque with the forms to Newcastle. I have received from Leeds dated 19/02/20 two letters ref Ashburner -17/02/2000 one sending correctly the Will & codicils of Miss EC Ashburner the other re John Ashburner with a note saying he died intestate and so there was no will: this is wrong and the grant records that “On 17/3/1879 letters of Administration with the WILL ANNEXED” were granted. Please send me a copy of the Will so annexed. Of the third Probate/Will I requested /paid for being that of Elizabeth Farquhar Ashburner 1/1/ 1880 there has been no response at all : again please send me copies I have tried repeatedly in office hours to deal with this by telephome , but your lines in both Leeds & Newcastle are purportedly either busy or ring endlessly and then cut out with no reply. As a solicitor I find all this both disgraceful & disturbing. My phone no is 0207 -727 – 7724.
